I’m NC NORML And I Vote!

North Carolina's Primary Election for federal and state offices will be held on March 3, 2020 (vote early until Feb 29th).

Voter ID is NOT required to vote in the primary.

Can’t Wait to Act? Here are some quickies. If not, please keep reading and come back to these.

  1. Make a plan to vote by February 29th in case you aren’t registered or something has gone wrong.  It can’t be fixed on election day. You can find early voting options here https://vt.ncsbe.gov/ossite/.

  2. Not sure who your legislators are? Check here https://www.ncleg.gov/FindYourLegislators

  3. Please forward or share this 5MA with friends, family, and neighbors who care about changing the law in NC to help us expand our reach in NC.

We distributed a survey to all candidates for the NC General Assembly asking 5 questions.  We have received quite a few responses.  We will keep providing information as it comes in. Here are a few of the responses we have received.

Non-violent sentences of cannabis sale/possession should be expunged following the legalization of cannabis.

Grow more marijuana for hemp

I believe in legalization. I would start with medical first, our county could use the money generated from legalization. Release pot smokers from jail and expunge the records. We have a work force all ready if we do this, NC is a tobacco/agricultural state.

I support legalization of medical marijuana immediately, and will support recreational legalization as soon as there is a roadside test to punish people for driving under the influence, the same as alcohol. In fact, I fully support treating recreational marijuana exactly like alcohol under the law.

If you have documentation on a candidate's stance, please e-mail us at [email protected]

NC NORML volunteers have been tracking primary races for NC General Assembly incumbents and candidates in the House and Senate. We will also post a link on social media when NORML’s Smoke the Vote tracker for Senate and Congressional races goes live on March 1, 2020.

If you want to know whether we have information on your NC House and Senate candidates, please send us an email at [email protected].
